Signs of Lynn – Layers of Fluff

Spread the love

Billboard on top of the Durkee Mower plant on Brookline Street, Lynn.

Thank you to Darlene (Bird) Jules for this submission from her trip to Lynn back in January, 2010!

Darlene says she lived all around Lynn before leaving the state in the 1980’s, but still checks in on us now and again, and it’s nice to see what matters to someone who’s been away so long, in pictures. She sent more, and they’ll pop up in this series or others in the future.

Darlene would like to know if anyone has any photos of Jules Restaurant, which used to be in Central Square “under the tracks across from the Item.” That’s likely Mt. Vernon Street. If you have such a photo, please send it in!

Here’s another photo, taken by LH July 13, 2011. The vantage point isn’t as good, but the classic billboard looks to be in pretty good shape.

Quite a few years back I found in the trash, one of those over-sized “Fluff” jars & brought it to the Lynn Historical Society.
