The 2nd Annual Back Yard Bash presented by Arts After Hours will take place on Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm in the Lynn Museum Park, located downtown at 590 Washington Street. Tickets can be purchased at artsafterhours.com or by phone at 781-205-4010.
AAH’s Back Yard Bash will celebrate local original art, music, food, and wine and further ignite Downtown Lynn’s growing nightlife. Admission for the event is $10 in advance / $15 at the door per person and includes museum admission. Tickets can be purchased in advance online through the Arts After Hours website.
At 9:30 PM, the event will move to the exterior of LynnArts for a fire spinning, eating, fleshing and dancing performance by Spiral Glyphics. This performance art segment of the evening is free to the general public. The after-party will take place at Turbine Wine Bar at 56 Central Square.
Arts After Hours is bringing excellent musical acts to the Back Yard Bash this year including local favorite Black Dog Brother, Mean Creek, and The Cinnamon Fuzz. AAH paired up with Ryan’s Smashing Life, a Boston based daily music and entertainment website, to bring an award winning lineup. The Cinnamon Fuzz’s newest album, Cruise of the Century, was listed as a 2010 favorite by Boston Music Spotlight. Mean Creek, one of Boston’s hottest bands of 2011, recently won Best Act in Boston in the Boston Phoenix’s 2011 Best Music Poll. “The caliber of bands that responded to our call was phenomenal,” says Corey Jackson, Managing Director of Arts After Hours. “Ryan Spaulding of TheRSL.com wanted to help us build something special to bring to Downtown Lynn this summer and he succeeded.”
The event will also feature for-sale art and demonstrations by local artists Lisa DeJoie (jewelry), Farah Ahmad (woven jewelry), Sean Lobdell (painter), Danielle Girard (craft), Katie Sullivan (fine art), Tim Thurott(furniture), the artists of Spyral Glyphics, and more.
Greg Gray, owner of GFB Consulting, will be on hand serving up the most delicious backyard fare. The menu will include Italian Sausage with peppers and onions, Caribbean Jerk Chicken, and roasted corn on the cob. Turbine Wine Bar will serve beer and wine at the event.
“This event marks our one-year anniversary in downtown Lynn” says Jocelyn Almy-Testa, Artistic Director for Arts After Hours. “Over the past year we have had an audience of over 1700 people passing through our events. We have also added thousands of dollars to the Lynn economy. When I look back at this past year, I am overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received from the artists, and the people of Lynn and beyond. We have had people from all over New England attend our events. It’s a tremendous success story for the arts in downtown Lynn, and it all started with last year’s Back Yard Bash. We’re really looking forward to celebrating the past year’s accomplishments and the beginning of our second year of programming at this year’s Bash.”
