Thursday, 8/18

1. The Central Square Farmer’s Market officially goes until 3pm, but some vendors hang around longer.

2. Shuffle Mode is the band this week at Red Rock Park, from 6-8pm with a nice ocean backdrop.

3. Charlie Farren sits in with the Joe Mack Trio at Old Tyme, 612 Boston Street at 7pm.

4. Arts After Hours 2nd Annual Back Yard Bash is bigger this year with art, art demos, artisan food, beer wine and sangria by Turbine and Black Dog Brother kicking off the music right at 7pm. The much hyped bands Mean Creek and The Cinnamon Fuzz are playing at 8 and 8:45pm.  At 9:30, Spiral Glyphics will play with fire in the lot next to LynnArts (where the Farmer’s Market is by day) and then the after party moves to Turbine, 56 Central Square. This event is a Boston Phoenix “Editor’s Pick.” For tickets and more info (they’re cheaper if you get ’em before 5pm), GO HERE. The location is 590 Washington Street, that’s the Lynn Museum, and as a bonus, you get free Museum admission with your ticket!

Friday, 8/19

1. Bring the kids if you have ’em, a blanket and snacks and see The Wizard of Oz at Red Rock Park at 8:30pm. See poster on your right for more.

2. Not Bothered is playing Walnut Street Cafe. You might bother to see their blend of acoustic rock, pop and funk at 8:30pm, #157.

3. Your LynnHappens editor/DJ is trekking all the way to Salem to present “Other Worlds, Other Songs,” an underground/indie rock retrospective spanning the coolest decades in music. 8pm at Gulu-Gulu Cafe on the corner of Essex and Washington Streets. Remember that Gulu-Gulu was born in Lynn. Even though they moved away, we’re still proud of ’em.

4. GNOQ features former members of Girls Night Out. They’ll play “Your latest favorites” (they must have ESP) at the Brickyard, 163 Blossom St. at 9pm.

Saturday, 8/20

1. You want to see live football already? The North Shore Generals take on the South Maine Raging Bulls at Manning Field. Kickoff is 5pm.

2. You haven’t had enough Summer? DJ Jimmy Ice is the feature at Lynnway Sportscenter’s Luau Party at 8pm.

3. The amazing Kristina Musto plays mostly originals and a few cool covers at Walnut Street Cafe at 8:30pm. #157

4. Vinny Scag and the Scagmatix scag at the Brickyard, 163 Blossom St. at 9pm.

5. There’s live music at the Sand Bar with Tigerlily at 9pm. They now feature a Tiki deck. 714 Washington Street.

6. Under New Management (the band) plays music at O’Brien’s over at 829 Boston St. at 9pm.

Sunday, 8/21

1. Summer Sunday music on the Brickyard patio continues. 4pm at 163 Blossom Street.

2. Don White’s Open Mic at Walnut Street features Diana Kirk. Signups at 6:30pm, feature at 8:30pm.
