This year’s Significance Awards nomination forms are now open and the Lynn Historical Commission is seeking worthy submissions from the Lynn citizens at large. The form is available through Mayor Kennedy’s office, the City of Lynn website, historiclynn.com, or The Lynn Historical Commission. The nominations must be submitted on or before April 20th. The Lynn Historical Commission will deliberate and view the nominations at their meeting in May. The Significance Awards will be announced and presented in a ceremony in Mayor Kennedy’s office, during the Lynn Historical Commission’s June 5th meeting.
The Significance Awards honor recipients in the categories of Residential, Commercial, Non-profit, Public, Open space, and Individuals, devoted to historic preservation. The purpose is to raise awareness and give appreciation for significant restorations or preservations of historic structures or sites in our city.
Last year’s inaugural Significance Awards went to the former Lydia Pinkham home on Western Ave., the Gold Fish Pond Association, and the business adaptive reuse of the former Wyoma Square Library. A special ‘Devotion Award’ was given to Dr. Millard Bass for his on-going restoration of a home in the Diamond District.
