A follow-up from the Highlands Coalition with more information –

Forum will feature Lynn & Somerville Human Rights Commissioners, Progressive Activists

With the legacy of Martin Luther King on the minds of many Lynn residents, community activists at the Highlands Coalition have organized a forum highlighting the struggle for racial, gender, and economic equality in the City of Lynn.  The forum is a chance for residents to see the progress that has been made in the struggle for social justice over the past year and obstacles that need to be overcome in order to make further gains.

The panel will include Laura McGaughey-Marquez of the Lynn Human Rights Commission, Andre Green of the Somerville Human Rights Commission, Bob Reynolds of Essex County Community Organization (ECCO), Rahsaan Hall of MassVote and Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC), and Julio Ruiz of the Worker Center for Economic Justice at the North Shore Labor Council.  The panel discussion will be concluded with a Q&A session, followed by refreshments.

The forum will seek to make Lynn residents more aware of the problems that the city’s residents face, the successes of the various organizations fighting for progressive change in the community, and Lynn’s potential for the future.
