The annual event held its ground on July 3rd while others were moved to Sunday along with the postponement of the fireworks.

Folks line up to take their turns reading a Frederick Douglass speech on the meaning of Independence Day for the slaves at a park that was once the property of activists and abolitionists, The Hutchinson Family Singers.

The new Executive Director of the Highlands Coalition, Wendy Joseph, sports a T-Shirt designed by Straight Ahead Ministries in Lynn.

The evening included live music from Al Nesser, BB, Dave Simmons, Janey David & Friends, Julio Bare and dance performances by Cultura Latina.

There were free pony rides, food vendors, and Navigators’ mascot chomps handed out pizza slices.
