Review by Lynn resident Steve Duffy –
Based on the Bill Granger best seller “There Are No Spies,” the film tells the story of former CIA agent Peter Devereaux (Pierce Brosnan) who is called back into the service for one last job. Peter finds himself pitted against his younger protégé David Mason (Luke Bracey) while trying to protect Alice Fournier (Olga Kurylenko from the 2008 Bond film “Quantum of Solace”) who has knowledge that could ruin the next man in line for the Russian presidency.
The former Bond makes for a great leading man but the gritty, bloody, and violently script doesn’t do anything to help his status. The only reason to see this movie is to see Brosnan in action. You may notice a lot of similarities to his Bond movies – except this film is horrible.
Rated PG-13 for strong violence including a sexual assault, language, sexuality/nudity and brief drug use
