Start-up and established businesses are invited to attend three free business workshops on Wednesday, November 19th at the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC), 583 Chestnut Street from 8:00am – 11:00am. Registration limited to 30 attendees for each workshop, RSVP is required.
Presented by the LACC in partnership with the Service Corps of Retired Executive (S.C.O.R.E.), the Small Business Administration (SBA), and the Lynn Economic Development Industrial Corporation (EDIC), attendees can participate in one, two or all, free of charge.
Workshop One; “Contracting Opportunities with the Federal Government” will be held from 8:00am – 9:00am. Did you know, the federal government is the largest purchaser of goods and services in the world? This workshop will outline the process of creating this new opportunity for your business.
Workshop Two; “Counseling, Training & Financing Programs to Assist in the Start-up and Growth of Your Business” from 9:15am – 10:30am will provide information on various programs and services available for start up and existing businesses. Learn how the SBA, SCORE, EDIC and LACC can assist in starting, growing and marketing your business.
Workshop Three; “Avoid Triple Damages: Changes to MA Business Law You Need to Know” will be held from 10:30am – 11:00am. Facilitator and Business Attorney Dennis Ford Eagan of Finneran & Nicholson P.C. will focus on recent legal developments and traps for the unwary business owner or manager under MA law. Attendees will learn how to know the difference between hiring an employee or an independent contractor; the risks if you violate the MA wage laws and what employers need to know about the rights employees have under MA law.
