Don White celebrates the release of his new comedy and music DVD, Once More With Feeling (click to purchase), in front of a home town crowd November 29 at the Lynn Memorial Auditorium. Show starts at 8PM, tickets are $18.
Don White and Brian Maes, both Lynn Classical graduates of 1974, will play together in their hometown for the first time.
Last November, Don White headed to one of his favorite venues, the Amazing Things Arts Center in Framingham, with a bunch of cameras and an ace backing band to record two nights of comic storytelling and music. The result is Once More With Feeling, his new DVD. He’ll reveal it in Lynn, along with his band from the taping – Brian Maes (keys/vocals), Seth Connolly (guitar/vocals), Christina Thompson Lively (vocals), Jackie Damsky (violin), and Tim Moynihan (bass). Maes opens the show on grand piano.
There will be a distinct Lynn flavor to the night, as White and Maes, both Lynn Classical graduates of 1974, will play together in their hometown for the first time. Don will also have special guests from the twice-a-year shows he used to run at Lynn’s Post 6, including Alan Hezekiah (Lynn Classical ’68), Peter Capano (Lynn Tech ’75), and Wailin’ Jack Phelan (Swampscott High). The Lynn Auditorium is also hold a special place in White’s history as the the place where he stood to receive his diploma in 1974.
Meet and greet with Don and band is from 6:30 to 8 in the lobby. Beer and wine will be available.
There is no one-word description for what Don White does. He has survived and thrived for twenty years, bringing his audiences to laughter and tears in his live performances, studio recordings, and on the printed page. He is a storyteller-comedian-author-troubadour-folk singer-songwriter. He is a walking challenge to the phrase “file under.” Best to just sort him under “Don White.”
White has headlined his own touching and uproarious shows and shared the stage with legends like Arlo Guthrie, Taj Mahal, Ritchie Havens, and The Band. He tours regularly in a co-headlining show with Christine Lavin. He has released five studio albums, two live albums, a greatest hits collection, and a co-headliner live album with Christine Lavin, as well as two DVDs and his autobiography, Memoirs of a C Student. His latest studio album, Winning Streak, is available now on iTunes an at www.cduniverse.com.
