…and that message is, “It’s my city. It starts with ME.”

Volunteers arrived at the steps of City Hall early Saturday morning and listened to brief talks by cleanup Organizer Juan Gonzalez, Associate DPW Commissioner Lisa Nerich and City Recycling Coordinator Julia Greene, who spoke in Spanish to the mostly Latino group. School Committee Candidate Jared Nicholson also spoke briefly in Spanish.

The volunteers split into teams to tackle different routes. Your LynnHappens editor joined the Market Street group and cleaned with the crew while also managing to grab a few photos.

United States Post Office Letter Carrier Karen Haggerty passed by the crew cleaning Market Street and was moved to buy them all coffee for their good work – and in memory of her father because it was near his birthday and he was a proud Lynner.
