Hot Pursuit

Spread the love

Review by Steve Duffy –

The simple storyline has Reese Witherspoon portraying an incompetent San Antonio policewoman who has been removed from the street and reassigned to the evidence room because of a mishap that involves a taser. She is given a second chance at redemption when she is assigned to protect and escort the wife of a criminal, Sofia Vergara, to Dallas so she can testify against a drug lord (Joaquin Cosio).

HPThe comic chemistry between the Oscar winner and Modern Family fave is weak. Separately, both have had great success in funny roles, but together they bomb. Witherspoon carries most of the comedic work. Vergara does perform best as the sexed-up damsel in distress.

Some of the jokes are horrible and offensive. Hot Pursuit is filled with lots of innuendo and begins dumb and continues to get dumber as the film goes along.

There are a few laugh-out-loud moments (especially the blooper reel at the end) but this action-comedy road trip is one buddy cop movie that I would run away from.

PG-13 for sexual content, violence, language and some drug material

Run Time: 1 hr. 27 min.
