From the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce –

Co-Chairs of the International Committee; Diana Moreno (Metro Credit Union) Elma Mandzo (People’s United Bank) and the committee at-large have been meeting to create this new initiative that will assist multicultural business owners to connect to the LACC, City Hall departments and the community at-large.
“Our goal is to create substantive programming; business education workshops, trending current event topics and networking opportunities that will address their most urgent business needs,” says Moreno, who also serves on the LACC Board of Directors. “Our committee will give these business owners a voice in the community and be a foundation and portal to all the other positive events and program offered by the LACC monthly.”
LACC Chair Taso Nikolakopoulos (owner, Johns Roast Beef & Seafood), Mayor Judith Flanagan-Kennedy and City Council President Dan Cahill will highlight the top of the program, followed by brief success stories from LACC members Erik Muschette (Liberty Mutual), Loi Nguyen (owner Oyo Yogurt), Eddy Staco (Immigration Lawyer) and Yaya Rodrigues (founder Cultral Latina Dance Academy).
To close, City Hall department heads and business resource representatives will discuss how to utilize and navigate City Hall to grow your business. Featured speakers are Jim Cowdell (EDIC), Peter Colarusso (SCORE Business Counseling), Michael Murray (OECD), Michael Donovan (ISD, Commissioner) and Jared Nicholson (founder, Northeast Legal Aid).
The idea for the International Committee was born from a the 2014 LACC strategic planning session.
“We knew we needed to do a better job connecting with the community,” says president/CEO Leslie Gould. “What the Board appreciated about this initiative was that it speaks to all businesses and is a grassroots effort to sincerely reflect the fabric of the community.”
And Mandzo agrees, “This is my first experience with the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce and it’s been very rewarding meeting new people and feeling the energy around this committee. Everyone wants it to be successful, everyone is thoughtful about creating the right programming that gives business owners the tools they can use in their business every day.”
