Ted 2

Just because Seth MacFarlane’s TED was the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time doesn’t mean it deserves a sequel.

Ted 2 begins with Ted (Seth MacFarlane) and his grocery store co-worker Tami-Lynn McCafferty (Jessica Barth) tying the knot as his recently divorced “Thunder Buddy” John (Mark Wahlberg) stands by. When Ted and Tami-Lynn’s marriage starts to crumble, they decide to the only way to save it is by having a baby.

After a very gross visit to a fertility clinic, they decide to adopt, which opens a giant can of worms for Ted – Is he a person or “property?” The state of Massachusetts has determined he is nothing more than a piece of property, not deserving of any human rights.

When John and Ted decide to prove that Ted is a person, they hire a bong smoking junior lawyer (Amanda Seyfried) to help them battle their case in court.

There are a few comedic moments of gold that will have you laughing out loud, among them a hilarious scene where they raid Tom Brady’s mansion while he sleeps, and a visit to an improv comedy show where they shout out inappropriate suggestions to the host.

There are a lot of hilarious celebrity cameos, whose names I won’t delve, so there is some element of surprise for you. I do promise, you will enjoy them.

For the most part the film is obnoxiously crude as the jokes scrape the bottom of the barrel and Ted is more foul-mouthed and racist than ever.

R for crude and sexual content, pervasive language, and some drug use

Runtime: 1 hr. 55 min.
