Fireworks and more: Celebrations from High Rock, Lynn Shore and Pine Hill

Spread the love

Here’s a roundup of some Lynn Independence Day events.

The first gallery is of High Rock Reservation, an annual event featuring a reading of Frederick Douglass’ speech on the meaning of Independence Day for the Slave. They also had live music, and Ward 4 Councilor Richard Colucci sponsored pizza, beverages and pony rides.

There are better fireworks galleries from local photographers such as Issac S, Isaac Davila Photography and Irish Se7en Photos on their respective facebook pages, but here’s our attempt. Below the galleries, check out the finale video and the cool time lapse submitted by Cheryl Crounse. (bottom of post)

Pine Hill Civic Association celebrated its 100th anniversary this year. Not many neighborhood associations reach that milestone or have such a storied history. Every morning of the 4th, they organize a parade with kids that winds them through Pine Hill to Gallagher Park, where awards are given in various categories, scholarships are handed out and kids participate in games.

Sorry I don’t have more information with which to caption the photos, but I do have the names of the scholarship winners (pictured in the gallery). Congratulations to Zachary Zimiroski, Cassidy McGann, Tyler Culp, Kieran Calnan and Joseph Tardiff.
