Film review by Steve Duffy –
No Escape focuses on an American engineer Jack Dwyer (Owen Wilson) and his family as they move to their new home in an unnamed Southeast Asian country. Within 24-hours of arriving, they find themselves in the middle of a violent and bloody political revolution, frightened, the Dwyers must frantically look for an escape as the horrors around them unfold.
My expectations were low, especially because Owen Wilson doesn’t do well in serious roles. He is really believable as a normal family man who was placed in this impossible situation and will do anything to protect his family.
Lake Bell delivers a solid performance as Wilson’s wife.
Disappointing is Pierce Brosnan’s brief role as a mysterious stranger that helps the Dwyers.
There is a lot of run-hide-action that will keep your heart pounding while hanging on to the edge of your seat.
R for strong violence throughout, and for language
