At 6pm this evening Lynn Christmas Parade volunteers gathered in Ward 7 City Councilor-elect Jay Walsh’s garage next to a large boat covered in Christmas decorations to discuss parade logistics and safety.
Whatever side you’re on in the debate over whether Christmas decor should go on display before Thanksgiving, one certain thing is that these volunteers are planning well before Halloween so the parade goes off without a hitch – or maybe that’s so that the hitches don’t come off. Constructing safe and elaborate floats for any weather situation is serious business. Speaking of safety, candy will not be thrown in the direction of oncoming traffic. Major roads will have to remain open in the opposite direction. So, pro-tip: Watch from the same side of the street and get candy.
Many of the volunteers have been returning for years. Some were just kids when they first got involved.
The route will be posted again well enough after Thanksgiving, but since folks have been already seeking the information –
