2/11/16 – From the Downtown Lynn Cultural District

DTLCD Call for Producers
Central Square Mural Park, Lynn

Have a great idea for a cultural event? Let us help to make your idea a reality!

The Downtown Lynn Cultural District, now in its 3rd year, has been instrumental in reinvigorating the arts and culture scene in our own Central Square. The DTLCD engages Lynn residents and visitors in a revitalized experience that has arts and culture at its core, where the city’s proud history creates a base for an exciting and diverse arts, culture, and entertainment scene. Our artists, residents, business owners, non – profit leaders and city officials know downtown Lynn as a vibrant cultural hub, and in 2012, the MCC named downtown Lynn as one of the first state recognized arts and culture districts in Massachusetts. This year, thanks in part to MassDevelopment, the Cultural District has been generously awarded a grant to establish a Call for Producers program series. This will allow us to actively engage community members to put forth programming that encourages residents of Lynn and other nearby cities to visit and appreciate the businesses, cultural offerings and vitality of downtown.

The Cultural District’s Call for Producers program is looking for individuals to create, produce and manage cultural events that will take place in our Mural Park throughout our 2016 season. Working directly with the Cultural District, producers will be responsible for: selecting a theme, lining up talent and/or creating activities, planning and managing the event, and helping with promotional services. The Cultural District will provide a stipend, determined by the budgetary needs of the event, ranging from $500 to $1,000, as well as marketing support, technical support, equipment, permitting and other specific requirements you may have.

The purpose of our Call for Producers series is to generate cultural activity downtown. With this series we hope to energize downtown Lynn with free, consistent cultural programming throughout the year that reflects and engages the city’s diverse communities and boosts the cultural and economic development of the city. We are particularly interested in bringing together Central Square businesses and downtown community members and artists to produce events that would not otherwise take place, and that we can hope to grow and expand with each coming year.

We highly encourage you to submit ANY and ALL ideas you may have.

*PLEASE NOTE: All programming must be based primarily in our Central Square Mural Park.*
