What’s a little rain to runners? What’s a little rain to the ‘Stones? Well, rain cut short a Rolling Stones show at Manning Bowl in 1966, but concert-goers would have none of it, so police decided that tear-gas disperses people better than water.
On Saturday, October 1st, 2016 in Central Square, the annual Clock to the Rock 5k went on as planned, as did a concert by School of Rock Lynn kids, who recreated the 1966 ‘Stones set live and dry under a canopy, under the mural. It was fitting weather under which to pay homage on the 50th anniversary of the Stones Concert at Manning Bowl. Still, folks purchased Bent Water Brews, Sausages, Coffee from Land of a Thousand Hills, and just as in 1966, weren’t about to leave the concert due a little rain.
A team effort made the event happen. Downtown Lynn Cultural District, The Daily Item, Ward 3 Councilor Cyr, Lynn Meatland & Eastern Harvest Foods, Flannery’s Handymen, Full Color Graphics, Total Outdoor, and your LynnHappens editor was the DJ between sets. Mayor Kennedy was there and introduced the band.
