From the Lynn Water and Sewer Commission –
BE PLEASE ADVISED: The water restriction has been elevated to MANDATORY Status.
What does this mean? The sustained pattern of dry weather has put the Greater Boston area into very extreme drought conditions. As a result, Lynn’s reservoir system has been reduced to below 45% of its maximum capacity.
The Commission requests the cooperation of ALL Lynn residents, municipal departments, restaurants, and businesses in conserving water as part of an effort to relieve demands on the drinking water supply.
In addition to reducing daily household water use, LWSC is requesting the following conservation measures:
-NO OUTDOOR WATER USE IS PERMITTED, INCLUDING IRRIGATION SYSTEMS.
-Fire hydrants shall be only used for fire fighting.
-Restrict restaurants to serve water only upon request.
Actions by LWSC
-The Commission has requested that the Lynn Department of Public Works shut off water on the Gannon Municipal Golf Course.
-The Commission will place repair of leaks as a top priority item.
LWSC will issue warnings for first offenses and impose fines or termination of service for repeated violations.
