BOSTON – The MBTA has released its service schedules for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Fares will not be collected after 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve on all modes of service.
Subway, buses, Commuter Rail, commuter boat/ferry, and the RIDE will all provide regular weekday service on Friday, December 23, 2016. Regular Saturday and Sunday service will be provided on Saturday, December 24, 2016, and Sunday, December 25, 2016, on all modes. On the observed Christmas holiday of Monday, December 26, 2016, subway, buses, Commuter Rail, commuter boat/ferry, and the RIDE will operate a Sunday schedule.
All subway lines will operate a modified weekday schedule on Saturday, December 31, 2016, with additional trains operating at rush-hour levels of service from 3 p.m. until approximately 1 a.m. Buses, commuter boat/ferry, and the RIDE will operate on a regular Saturday schedule on December 31. The Commuter Rail will operate a modified Saturday schedule with extra outbound service from North and South Stations at the times listed below. Extra trains will make all stops en route to their destinations and customers must arrive prior to the departure times. Bicycles are also prohibited on all inbound Commuter Rail trains between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and all outbound trains from 4 p.m. through the end of service on New Year’s Eve.
