The annual Hibernian 5K road race will take place on Sunday, March 19th. The race is scheduled to begin at 11am with the start and finish by the Hibernian Hall on Federal St. It is expected that up to 800 runners will participate in the race. In order to ensure the safety of runners as well as motorists in that area, Barriers will be deployed at the following locations to restrict access into Agganis Sq.:
• Federal St. @ Western Ave. – (except for participants seeking to park in GE lot)
• Waterhill St. @ Spencer St.
• Marion St. @ Agganis Sq. (block access to Marion St. and also partition Agganis Sq. so that traffic can proceed up Federal St. while pedestrians gather in front of Hibernian Hall)
• Marion St. @ Boston St. opposite Kirtland St.
• Boston St. @ Federal St.
• Centre St. @ Western Ave.
*Note: The organizers have obtained a permit for a Block Party from the City. The Agganis Square area will be closed to traffic no later than 10:00 a.m. and continuing until 2:00 p.m. for this event.
Road Race Parking: Federal St. will be blocked off at the Western Ave. end but participants will be allowed to enter Federal St. only for the purpose of parking access. No Parking signs will be posted on both sides of Federal St. between Boston St. and Marion St. and also along some sections of Waterhill St. and Marion St.
Race Course: The race will begin in the area of Agganis Sq. and proceed down Marion St., past Centre St. to Boston St. It will then proceed from Boston St. to Keslar Ave. to Holyoke St. to Walnut St. to Linwood Rd. and down North Franklin St. before turning back on to Boston St. to the finish line on Federal St. by Hibernian Hall.
