An opening reception was held Saturday for the current exhibit at LynnArts featuring works by Paul Nathan.
This is the first public showing of my work. I have
finally been convinced the pieces are ready.
I am 68 years old and live and work in Lynn. There have been
two major ‘periods’ separated by some 30 years. Both periods
are represented in the exhibit. I was very encouraged and
satisfied with the direction in which the work was headed
during the first period so I cannot completely explain the
almost total lack of artistic work for more than 30 years.
Instead I practiced as a trial attorney, did a lot of bicycling, and
family. I no longer practice law and there is a portrait of my retired
bicycle in the exhibit. Family is forever.
While primarily collages, the exhibit includes some of the original
paintings from which all of the collage pieces were subsequently
derived. Pieces range in size from 6in x 4in to 11ft x 4ft.
The exhibit website gives a good preview.
I would like to think they deliver pure artistic and emotional fun.
They are even more enjoyable when seen in person.
I look forward to sharing the collection.
And my thanks to Lynn Arts for all their help.
The exhibit remains on display in the Main Gallery through April 5, 2017. For more information on the LynnArts Building of Lynn Museum/LynnArts, visit LynnMuseum.org. For more information about Paul Nathan, visit PaulNathanArt.com.
