5 Questions is a series by Steve Duffy –
Academy Award Nominee and Golden Globe Winner Lesley Ann Warren career was launched when she starred in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical Cinderella back in 1965. Since then, Warren has gone on to star in some memorable movies and television shows. Today, the veteran actress will be placing back on her dancing shoes to star in Dance to the Movies, coming to the North Shore Music Theatre April 29th.
SD: How did you become involved with “Dance to the Movies?”
LAW: I received a call about a year and a half ago to be part of the show. I did not hesitate with my answer. I was excited to receive the call.
SD: Since you got your start in dance, what is it like being center stage again?
LAW: It is an amazing, scary, and exciting experience. I started on Broadway and have always loved dancing and performing on stage. Dancing was my very first passion and any time that I get to do it, I’m in heaven. I’m always amazed at how much muscle memory that this old body of mine has.
SD: Now that you are performing with Tony and Anna from “Dancing with the Stars,” would you consider being on the show?
LAW: Believe it or not, this is not the first time I’ve been asked. I am way too fragile to be criticized in front of millions of people. I would definitely be able to handle the rehearsals and the performances, but that is all.
SD: If you had to live your life as Cinderella, Norma from “Victor, Victoria, or Miss Scarlet from “Clue” who would you choose?
LAW: It would definitely be Cinderella! She got to marry the prince and live happily ever after. Who wouldn’t want that life?
SD: Looking back at your career, what would be your favorite career highlight?
LAW: You just named them. Cinderella was an enormous highlight of my career. Working on “Will & Grace” was another favorite of mine. I can’t forget to mention working with Mel Brooks on “Life Stinks.” Just having so many of these wonderful experiences in my life was been beyond wonderful. All the career choices that I made over the years were really everything that I wanted to do with my career.
