5 Questions is a series by Steve Duffy –

The pop singer and former “Glee” star is excited about the upcoming release of her sophomore album “Places.” Promoting the new album is going to be fun for Lea. She sets out on tour May 1st and is giving her fans an intimate evening with her.

SD: Your second album “Places” is set for release on April 28th, how does this album differ from your first?

LM: It is a true representation of who I am as a singer and an artist. Two things I accomplished with this album is that I made sure I stayed true to myself and that I gave it all the time and care it deserved. There are not a lot of theatrical elements to it. It is just me singing and sharing my voice.

SD: You co-wrote 2 songs on this album.  What’s Your Songwriting Process?

LM: Songwriting is a new thing for me. They all came from writing sessions that involved some friends and wine. Both of the songs came from personal experiences. I need to sing songs that really relate to me so I can connect with them.

SD: How do you come up with the title for this album?

LM: I wanted a title that reflected a throwback to my roots. Places that have meaning for me. I started my career on Broadway, so that has always been an important part of my life. So when I was thinking of a title, what came to mind was when you’re on Broadway, you get a 30-minute call, then a 15-minute call.  Then you hear ‘Places everyone!’ And that means it’s showtime.”

SD: How much of “Places” is a reflection of who you are as a person?

LM: This album is all about my journey. I am not hiding behind anything. There are no smoking mirrors. It was scary, because I really wanted this album to be a true representation of who I am. It is really more of a personal album than “Louder.”

SD: What has been the most profound change in your life since gaining stardom from Glee?

LM: It has definitely changed a lot. I am in a great place in my life right now. I feel that I continue to learn and live from all my experiences and I am taking these life lessons and using them. I feel that every stage in my life has enable me to do my best and appreciate the things that I have.

SD: What can your fans expect to see and hear at your show?

LM: For me, it is my time to really connect with my fans. I tell a lot of personal stories and take a walk down memory lane. Besides singing songs from my albums, I will also be singing songs from “Glee.” My fans have been such a big support to me and I really want to make their experience with my show an awesome experience.
