Transformers: The Last Night

Film review by Steve Duffy –

Humans are at war with the Transformers, and Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving the future lies buried in the secrets of the past and the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Now, it’s up to the unlikely alliance of Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), Bumblebee, an English lord (Anthony Hopkins), and an Oxford professor (Laura Haddock) to save the world.

This is a film that should have not been made. I am not even sure I can begin to explain the story— the narrative is sloppy and there are too many obstacles to overcome to even make this a half-way decent movie.

Mark Wahlberg’s acting is horrible and gets lost in his character. With so many new characters and storylines, the plot gets messy.

Fans of Transformers may really enjoy the film, but I would not waste my money to see it.
Rating: PG-13 for violence and intense sequences of sci-fi action, language, and some innuendo
Runtime: 149 minutes
