A Centerboard campaign to light High Rock Tower reached an important milestone tonight when Joey Nicotera of Retonica, a lighting company, Duffy Electrical and Centerboard folks flipped the switch on lighting the first two sides. The other sides will be lit as more funds are raised.
While there is still work to do, including welding boxes that will contain some of the LED uplighting, the tower will now be lit nightly.
As seen in the photos, there is also a laser capable of “writing” messages and other animations.
Visitors to the Centerboard website will be able to donate to help light the other sides of the tower.
Centerboard hopes the tower brightens the park, alleviating public safety concerns, and plans on the changing colors for specific causes and celebrations. Your LynnHappens editor is wondering when the first proposal will be written on the tower in laser – you don’t have to say you got the idea here.
The Boston Foundation is a supporter of Centerboard’s campaign to illuminate High Rock Tower and Observatory.
