5 Questions is a series by Steve Duffy –
Damian Darlington created Brit Floyd back in 2011 after performing in another Pink Floyd tribute band. Not only is he a vocalist and guitarist, he is also the musical director that has helped bring Pink Floyd’s classic tracks to life making Brit Floyd the greatest Pink Floyd tribute band.
SD: You’ve been doing this since 2011, are you surprised at how successful it’s become?
DD: Yes, I am surprised. You never really know how these things will turn out. Although, I was always very confident when we started it. I am very thankful that our fans have loved us from the beginning.
SD: As a tribute band, are there challenges you face playing the music of Pink Floyd?
DD: Most certainly! It is not the easiest music to recreate. They have created some of the best songs in music history.
SD: What’s the biggest change with this tour?
DD: A very diverse set list. We are performing tracks that we have never performed in public by Pink Floyd. We will also be performing songs from “Animals”, in honor of its 40th anniversary. I promise no one will be disappointed.
SD: Have any of the Pink Floyd guys seen the show?
DD: No, but they have watched our videos and they are most definitely aware of what we are doing. We have had Scott Page and David Gilmour jump on stage and perform with us.
SD: What can the fans expect to see and hear?
DD: They will get to hear and enjoy 3 hours of Pink Floyd music. We also have a great lighting and video show, along with some lasers. If we can fit it in the auditorium, we have a giant inflatable pig. It is really a great recreation of an authentic Pink Floyd show.
