The mural festival is coming back in 2018 and seeks new walls
From Beyond Walls –
This coming August, Beyond Walls is planning a second mural festival featuring new street artists from around the world as well as local talent. Beyond Walls is currently looking for new canvases (exterior walls) in the downtown area. For more information contact Beyond Walls and visit their call for walls page.
This past summer Beyond Walls, a placemaking agency based in downtown Lynn, launched their first Mural Festival. The group, made up of local business owners, residents, and art enthusiasts commissioned 20 international and local artists to produce 15 large-scale murals throughout Lynn’s Cultural District. Artists from the 2017 festival were selected based on their talent and if their cultural identity matched those of the residents in downtown Lynn. “It was important for us to capture the real essence of what makes this community great.” Said Al Wilson, Founder and Executive Director of Beyond Walls. Artists originating from the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cambodia and Australia were brought to Lynn along with top artists from Lynn’s rich graffiti art scene of the 80’s and 90’s. Current artists in the community as well as students from Raw Art Works were also featured in the 2017 festival. A full list of the 2017 artists and their biographies can be viewed on Beyond Walls’ website
