Film review by Steve Duffy –
Many are saying this is the best Star Wars movie since The Empire Strikes Back. I will let you be the judge of that for yourself.
I will say that Rian Johnson has put his heart and soul into this film and it shows. He executes his thoughts and vision very clearly.
The cast continues to shine. Daisy Ridley grows in her character as Rey. Adam Driver is great and we get a deeper look into he really is. Oscar Isaac’s Han Solo act as Poe Dameron is entertaining and makes him a winner in the Star Wars universe.
This is the first Star Wars film to have a lot of laugh out loud humor. I first found it be to a bit misplaced, but I quickly warmed up to it.
For me, Star Wars movies have the most thrilling space actions scenes and The Last Jedi does not disappoint.
The best part of the movie is seeing Carrie Fisher in her final performance.
This is the longest movie in the franchise and at times, it definitely feels it. As much as I loved it, I wasn’t blown away by it. It is still way better than George Lucas’ second trilogy combined.
Rating: PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi action and violence
Runtime: 152 minutes
