From North Shore Community College –
North Shore Community College (NSCC) presents The Wise Men of Chelm, based on Jewish folktales, adapted by Sandra Fenichel Asher and directed by Matthew Woods.
Legend has it that when Earth was created and the time came to fill it with people, two angels were chosen to deposit wise and foolish souls evenly over the land. However, one angel tripped on a mountain peak and the entire sack of foolish souls emptied out over one spot, a tiny town in Poland called Chelm!
Weaving together several favorite tales from Jewish folklore, this charming play introduces us to the eternally good-natured, but misguided, wise folk of Chelm.
But, you don’t have to be Jewish to put your conclusions before your facts, pin your dreams on a feather, or recognize yourself and everyone you know in the antics of The Wise Men of Chelm!
Performances will be held at Lynn Arts, Inc. 25 Exchange Street, Lynn on Friday, April 20 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, April 21 at 1pm, 3 pm and 7 pm and on April 22 at 1pm & 3 pm.
