On Saturday, April 14th, Lynn Grows held an event at the Lynn Museum to announce their partnership and six guiding priorities. They are:
- School Food
- Food Education
- Local Food Business
The alliance is looking for people to serve on committees to realize these six priorities. Those interested could contact Lynn Grows through their website or facebook page.
“We envision a place and culture where residents of Lynn have access to the resources needed to make healthy decisions around their food choices.” – www.lynngrows.org
In 2016, The Food Project and the Lynn Food and Fitness Alliance formed a partnership with Lynn residents and community stakeholders to create a more equitable and healthy food system in Lynn. This partnership became Lynn Grows and today it is led by a steering committee of around 25 members. In the fall of 2017, the steering committee drafted a vision and list of six priority areas to guide the Lynn Grows initiative through implementation. These priorities include things like food access, community gardens, school food, and more. Now, Lynn Grows is gathering input from the community by holding listening sessions (presentations and discussions) to learn which food issues people care about and hear their ideas for the future. Through this work, Lynn Grows seeks to create a positive and inclusive movement to improve our local food system.
