5 Questions is a series by Steve Duffy –
Thommy Ten is one-half of “The Clairvoyants.” In 2016, he and Amélie decided to take part in “America’s Got Talent.” After months of performing America voted them second place. Being part of AGT was one of many major steps in the evolution of their career.
SD: It’s been 2 years since finishing as the first runner-up on America’s Got Talent. How has your life changed?
TT: It definitely has changed a lot and for the better. We are constantly on tour in both the US and Europe. Making new friends around the world. It really has been a crazy whirlwind of a time.
SD: How did you realize that you had mentalist abilities?
TT: I always knew that I had a special gift. I would perform for friends and family, but it wasn’t until I met Amélie that it really clicked and our connection to each other was strong.
SD: How did you and Amélie meet and when did you realize you had a connection to each other?
TT: We met about 7 years ago in Vienna. After meeting, we realized that we had several things in common (i.e. being born in the same hospital). There definitely was an instant connection for us. We knew we had to share it with others.
SD: Do you find a difference between European and American audiences?
TT: I find in Europe that they are a little shyer, especially in the beginning. They will just watch the show for a while before participating. In American, everyone wants to be a part of it right from the very start. However, in the end, no matter where we are, everyone participates.
SD: What can your fans expect from The Clairvoyants when you perform at the Lynn Auditorium?
TT: It’s a very fun show. We make it very interacting. We make sure that we work with the audience and that they leave with a smile on their face.
