Here’s a rundown of what’s happening at Lynn Museum / LynnArts the month of October, 2018 –

Meet the Artists Reception for Shadows & Light, October 13, 4-6:30pm

MESA

Want to learn more about our temporary World War I exhibit? On Wednesday, October 10 at 12 noon, Lynn Museum Collections Manager Susan Baker Leavitt will speak at our monthly MESA program and will highlight a few special artifacts. Bring your lunch and stay for the talk!

MESA is our FREE Museum Enrichment Series for Adults. Our WWI exhibit runs through mid-December.

“In the Moment” Memory Cafe

Please join us at the Lynn Museum on Thursday, October 18th, from 10am-12pm for Memory Cafe, a program for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and their caretakers. This monthly program provides opportunities to network and enjoy refreshments, connect with caregiver support specialists, and–if you like–join in creative projects and interactive learning.

The theme for October is “Patriots’ Day!”

We’ll celebrate our wonderful and winning–fingers crossed–New England Patriots.
Wear your favorite Patriots gear!

Life Drawing at LynnArts, Thursdays 6pm to 9pm

“Pressing Matters” on Exhibit in LynnArts
by the Monotype Guild of New England, through October.

Volunteer Opportunity

The Lynn Museum is collaborating with the Lynn Public Schools to engage with third-grade classes for our multi-visit program, Lynn Museum History Detectives, during the 2018-2019 academic year. The program will employ our exhibit “Industry and Craft: People at Work in Lynn” to introduce the students to Lynn’s history. We are seeking volunteers to assist with the museum visits.

Ideal candidates will have morning weekday availability, an interest in educating with museum artifacts, and an enthusiasm for interacting with elementary age students. Experience in education is a plus but not required. No special background in history of Lynn is needed – we will provide training.

Interested individuals should email Judith Marshall, Education Manager, at judith@lynnmuseum.org for more information.
