5 Questions is a series by Steve Duffy –
Encompassing nearly five decades of legendary music and channeling the spirit of Fleetwood Mac at their very best, Rumours of Fleetwood Mac offer a unique opportunity for fans, both old and new, to rediscover the songs and performances that have ensured Fleetwood Mac’s place as one of the most loved bands of all time.
SD: Why did you choose “Rumours” to perform for this tour?
AC: It is such a classic album. I thought it was their greatest album. I also think when it came out it become the soundtrack for many people’s lives.
SD: Favorite song on the “Rumours” album?
AC: Wow! Tough question. I would have to say, it’s the entire album. It’s a piece of art, its perfection. I do love the song “Dreams.” When I first heard it, it really spoke to me.
SD: Do you get any personal satisfaction from performing another band’s songs?
AC: Yes, I do! It’s a great and humbling experience to perform their songs. When they first came out, they were known as a blues bank here in the UK. I instantly fell for their sound. Mick Fleetwood has influenced my playing. He is a great musician with great style. The challenge for us is to perform their music just as good as they do and be respectful to them as fellow musicians. Like the audience, we are big fans too.
SD: As a tribute band, what needs to be done to capture the magic and emotion of Fleetwood Mac?
AC: That’s a hard one, because there is only one Fleetwood Mac. We really try and capture both their emotion and essence as a band. For us as a band, we always make sure we are truthful in performance and nature.
SD: Has “Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac” received any endorsement from the members of the original band?
AC: Yes, indeed. We would have not have stepped out and sailed on with the show, if we didn’t. The show is endorsed by Mick Fleetwood. After watching their 1997 performance of “The Dance,” I thought it would be great to be a tribute band celebrating them. This is our first-time touring in the US and we are excited.
