Film review by Steve Duffy –
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part
This fantastic sequel reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are now facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than it can be rebuilt. The battle to defeat the invaders and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet (Chris Pratt), Lucy (Elizabeth Banks), Batman (Will Arnett) and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.
Sequel’s can be tricky, only because you never know if they are going to live up to the original. There is so much that is right with this film. It is fun, full of energy and has a heartwarming story to tell. Kids of all ages are going to love its silliness and its entertaining LEGO characters. The film also incorporates the Duplo and Lego Friends into the story.
Tiffany Haddish’s role breathes some life into the storyline and the fun she is having with her character Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi really shows.
What everyone will really love about the movie is the expressive voice work, songs, and the awesome cameos. I can promise you and your kids will leave the theatre with a giant smile on your face.
