Drawing upon the vibe and style of the Fritz Block Party in Boston, SizzLynn will be an outdoor event where the LGBT community and its supporters can come celebrate and show their pride. Beer, wine, soda and water will be available for purchase.

DJ Brian Halligan, formerly of Cirque, now of Plastique and a guest DJ at Club Cafe and Boyfriends, will be on hand to get the crowd dancing. “My DJ residence at Cirque allowed me to meet some wonderful, creative, and open-hearted people with the resilience and determination to make their dreams come true for a thriving cultural community in Lynn, and I miss playing for that community” says Halligan. “The Arts After Hours organization is an important part of making the dream of a revitalized downtown Lynn a reality, and I’m once again delighted and honored to contribute my skills to SizzLynn in support of that vision.” The music will go on into the night as Halligan continues spinning at an afterparty at Fran’s Place, 776 Washington St., just a short walk from the event.

Local drag performers Veronica Vaughan and Amanda Stevens from Northern Nights will make a special appearance on stage with one of their signature acts, “Serial Girls.”

There will be great raffle prizes including tickets to home and away Red Sox/Yankees games, gift baskets of alcohol, gift certificates to local restaurants, and much, much more.

The American Cancer Society is the official sponsor of birthdays.  This year the Relay For Life of Lynn challenged the elementary school students of Lynn to design a birthday cake for the Relay Survivor Reception.  We received hundreds of entries of beautiful and creative birthday cakes.  It was with great difficulty that the Lynn Relay Committee selected three designs from all of the entries.  Please join the Lynn Relay Committee in congratulating our first place winner, Mario Sordello, of Shoemaker School.  Congratulations are also extended to our two runners up: Renae Newman of Lynn Woods School and Lindsey Valeri of Lincoln Thomson School.  All three cake designs will be placed on cakes that will be served at the Relay Survivor Dinner at 4:30pm on Saturday, June 8.  The three winners will be recognized at our Opening Ceremony at 4pm and then they will be invited to do a ceremonial cake cutting following our Survivor Lap.  We invite everyone in the Lynn community to come to the Relay For Life of Lynn to see the winning cakes and to look through the book of entries.

People from all walks of life come together with a common goal of furthering the American Cancer Society’s efforts to save lives by helping people stay well, by helping them get well, by finding cures and by fighting back. “Relay For Life draws attention to the progress being made in the fight against cancer,” said Kay Rowe volunteer chair for the event. “Many participants are our family, friends, and neighbors who have faced cancer themselves. Their involvement helps brings hope that, together, we can eliminate cancer as a major health problem.”

The entertainment schedule for the Relay For Life is being created so as to interest everyone that joins the event.  There will be band performances including the Lynn Public Schools Jazz Ensemble, Kids’ Dance Party, Irish Dancers, themed laps and more.  The event will also include ceremonies dedicated to celebrating and remembering cancer patients.
