Highlights from Lynn Blogs
Bloggers making a difference edition:
Lynn Blog readers are no doubt aware of recent efforts to improve conditions at the Central Square Commuter Rail station and garage. Here is a follow up from The Lynn Experiment and one from Downtownlynn after a meeting held Tuesday, July 13th in the Lynn Police Headquarters Community Room. Posts such as this one on Downtownlynn and DTLna’s recent meeting with Rep. Steve Walsh helped seal the deal. Improvements in cleanliness are apparent and there is a visible increase in patrols.
And here’s another victory for DTLna and its blogging residents, with help from Ward 5 Councilor Brendan P. Crighton:
Not only is it paid for by grant money (see photo detail), but lighter trash will not blow out of it with a stiff wind. Rumor has it that covers are ordered for the existing, more conventional trash receptacles, which will help keep the area clean. Of course, the next challenge is training passers-by not to toss garbage on the ground.
However, not every blogger lives in or blogs about DTL…
Other blogs making a difference include Spring Pond Woods, an offshoot of the very active Heart of Lynn. These woods, shared by Lynn, Peabody, and Salem, are threatened by development. They also just made the 1000 Great Places in Massachusetts List(pdf). Read these blogs and you’ll learn some cool local history, regardless of your stance on the proposed development. You can tour the woods on Saturday, August 7th.
The Lynn-Side Edition also writes about people making a difference with coverage of PlaySafe Lynn’s cleanup of William’s Ave. Park. But while it’s still July, let’s rewind to this brilliant recount of Lynn’s customary enthusiasm around July 4th.
Living in Lynn is now on its own domain, livinginlynn.com, and has a few dates for you to remember.
