We finally have a new restaurant in the location where Pho Lynn used to be: Lupita opened two weeks ago and in case you were wondering, it’s the same folks that own Tacos Lupita down the street. If you are a fan of Tacos Lupita, you will definitely like Restaurante Lupita, which features many of the same items, including beef, chicken and pork tacos, burritos and quesadillas.

So what is different about Restaurante Lupita? To begin with, it is a much larger space with comfortable seating  great for large groups. They are working on their liquor license, so you might soon be enjoying a nice beer or a Margarita with your tacos. They have also expanded the menu to include other dishes such as MOLE, a delicious sauce served with chicken and prepared with a variety of ingredients, including black and red peppers, spices, chocolate and peanuts. Lupita’s mole is definitely worth trying, a dark hot sauce -not too spicy- served over chicken with a side of rice and beans. Another favorite dish are the enchiladas, with your choice of green or red sauce and served with rice and beans and melted cheese on top. The sauces are prepared with green or red tomatoes and are not spicy. They will place a container with the spicy sauce of your choice on the side.

Another interesting thing is that while Tacos Lupita features food from Mexico and El Salvador, Restaurante Lupita is more focused on Mexican food.

An interesting piece of trivia: Lupita, like many other Mexican restaurants, serves Coca Cola that is manufactured and bottled in Mexico, and exported to the United States. The story behind this is that the influx of Mexican immigrants into the US created a huge demand for this drink, which uses cane sugar instead of corn syrup and comes in the famous Coca-Cola bottle, called the “contour bottle”. So next time you are in Lupita, try a Mexican Coca Cola and see if you can taste the difference!

Had a chance to try the new Restaurant Lupita tonight, the décor is nicely done with nice bright colors of orange, green and yellow with just the right amount of pictures and decorations on the walls so as to not over do it, including two flat panel TVs and a wall mounted juke box.
You are able to sit where you want and they bring you a menu and a nice bowl of chips and salsa to start. The menu is done well with a wide variety of menu selections, including breakfast items. With everything being very reasonably priced, my meal was a mere $8.00. My server was very friendly with a nice outgoing personality which is very refreshing.

I ordered a beef chimichanga and added rice and beans and a diet coke. The food came out quite quickly and was piping hot with guacamole and sour cream on the side. After cutting in I did notice that the beef chimichanga that I ordered was chicken, but it was so good that I did not care. Everyone I saw in the Lupita tonight seemed to enjoy their meals as much as I did.

I was told that Saturday September 25th at 6:00pm they are having their official opening and will be having live music. Good luck Lupita. Great job.

This is a nicely decorated restaurant. The food is excellent. However, the service is very, very slow. They definately need more help. There was only one waitress for the whole room. We were seven people dining at lunch time. The meals came out one at a time, which made it very awkward for us.

I’m happy for the Lupita folks that they are expanding. Once the liquor license comes along this will make a ton of sense. Yay for sit down Mexican entrees. Love it!!!

Mexican Coke is far superior. They also carry it at Shaws, strangely, in the frozen/deli section rather than with the other soft drinks.
