Progress for Reform in Lynn to Hold First Forum Saturday, Feb 27
A new group seeking to curb the cycle of violence is gaining momentum fast as it plans its very first forum on Saturday, February 27th from 3 to 5pm.
A Facebook invite already indicates eighty-nine attendees for Progress for Reform (as of the writing of this post), an initiative by Lynn’s own Ashley Turner, a Harvard Scholarship recipient and 2009 Lynn English Valedictorian. Her goal is to look at ways elementary level education can reach children at a critical age so they may have a solid foundation from which violence can not pull them down its destructive path.
From the invitation:
“My Proposition: We may not be able to stop the violence on the streets, but we may be able to cut it off from its origins. How? By paying closer attention to our public elementary, middle, and junior high schools. We may not be able to change the mind of an 18 year-old, but we can change the mind and future of a five-year-old.”
Email Ashley Turner at turner7810@gmail.com for further information and the location.

I think the rally is good to start good ideas.
One way they can help change the mind of a 5 year old, is by volunteering in the community.
I hope all those who attend the rally become volunteers and help the children in their community grow in a positive way, simply by playing ball with them or spending some time with a child. That’s all it mostly takes. being good role models. isn’t this the right answer?
How was it? I hear Mayor Kennedy and Councilor Crighton were there? They have anything meaningful to say? The Mayor living up to her promises on being vocal on crime?
I wish I hadn’t missed this meetup. When is the next one?
I’m not sure, but I’ll post it as soon as I find out.
