Lynn Community Activists Host Equal Rights Forum
With Martin Luther King Day fast approaching, community activists have joined together to honor his legacy of civil rights with a forum that celebrates Lynn’s proud history as a hotbed of progressive causes throughout history and discusses the next steps to engage the residents of the city in a common cause for equal rights and social justice.
From the abolitionist movement and labor organizing to current struggles with poverty, racism, disenfranchisement, and civic pride, the forum will make Lynn residents more aware of their city’s accomplishments and potential for the future.
The Equal Rights Forum, to be held at Ford Elementary School in the Highlands neighborhood of Lynn, will ask two simple questions to those in attendance:
“How far have we come in obtaining equal rights for all?”
“Where do we go from here?”
