SUMMARY
When CB’s dog dies from rabies, CB begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister has gone goth; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized; and his other friends are too inebriated to give him any sort of solace. But a chance meeting with an artistic kid, the target of this group’s bullying, offers CB a peace of mind and sets in motion a friendship that will push teen angst to the very limits. Drug use, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion and sexual identity collide and careen toward an ending that’s both haunting and hopeful.

“Good grief! The Peanuts kids have finally come out of their shells.” —Time Out NY.

“A welcome antidote to the notion that the Peanuts gang provides merely a slice of American cuteness.” —NY Times.

“…easily identifiable with the Peanuts crowd yet with a distinctly ‘Royal’ touch…The way Royal builds on the foundation of Charles Schulz’s iconic comic strip actually results in a parody that’s also a stand-alone play apt to resonate even with anyone belonging to that small population segment unfamiliar with Peanuts.” —CurtainUp.

“Inventive and raunchy…hysterically funny.” —NY Post.

“Bert V. Royal is the playwright of the Off-Broadway show DOG SEES GOD: CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE BLOCKHEAD and is he ready to confess all!” —Broadway.com. “DOG SEES GOD doesn’t feel like the same old high-school-warfare schlock. The characters—teenage and reckless—are both genuinely sympathetic and unquestionably cruel. Growing more hysterical—and more harrowing—as it flows to an inevitable, uncomfortable end, this taut comedy manages to make tired clichés about stoners and popular homecoming airheads funny and endearing.” —NY Magazine.

Meet Christie Connolly, who runs OASIS – Open Art Studio and Inspirational Space, in downtown Lynn.

Christie Connolly is a Lynn native; she grew up in Lynn and as a single mother, brought her daughter up in Lynn as well. Soon after having her daughter she went to Bunker Hill Community College where she earned two Associates Degrees in Media Technology, and Computer Graphics, while waitressing and bartending at several local restaurants.

She then went on to start her own DJ/Karaoke business in 1992, She has continually worked all over New England hosting functions, weddings and almost any type of event you could imagine. She has worked in clubs, bars, restaurants and homes, she continues to host part time for the sheer love of it.

Christie is also an artist who has shown her work at several galleries in Lynn, Beverly, Cambridge as well as The State House in Boston.

Her works are mostly abstract in nature but she also does portraits as well as landscapes using various mediums such as watercolor and Ink and oil pastel.

In 2008 she decided to go back to school to earn her BA at Lesley University as a personal goal.

While attending Lesley she stumbled on to the Expressive Therapies program and decided to stay and earn her MA in Mental Health Counseling/Expressive Therapies.

She worked in the field at South Bay Mental Health in Lynn and NFI (National Family Institute) in Peabody before earning her License in Sept 2016.

She subsequently opened her own practice in August 2017 at Lynn Arts Building 25 Exchange Street in Lynn at OASIS, which stands for Open Art Studio and Inspirational Space. Oasis is an open art studio model, a space that is open to the pubic for art group workshops and open art studio times, private functions as well as private personal one to one counseling.

As an Art Therapist, she has worked with families, individuals and couples in therapy: with adults with dual diagnosis and trauma; seniors; children; special needs groups, among others. She has facilitated many therapeutic workshops using various therapeutic modalities such as Talk Therapy, Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Art Therapy, IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
