HELLO AGAIN!

It’s time for our next pop up!

It’s (FINALLY) getting nice outside, so we’re mixing it up under the bright lights in the #cityofsin!

This event is on Memorial Day. Don’t know what you’re doing yet for this BONUS DAY OFF? No worries, friends, we got you covered. Here’s the gig:

Hit up Lynn/Nahant Beach first—lather yourselves with Piña Colada-scented whatever whatever and get your Vitamin D on. Then, scoot on over to Lynn’s own baller Bent Water Brewing and let us take care of all your BEER + BBQ NEEDS! That’s right, dudes and dudettes, it’s Nightshade: Vietnamese BBQ style! We’re gonna BBQ, we’re gonna dance, we’re gonna drink
PHO MICHELADAS, YOU GUYS.

This event is at Bent Water’s brewery, a short (and cheap) Uber/Lyft away from both beaches (or a 15 minute or so walk, if you’re feelin’ fresh). The Wonderland T stop and the Lynn Commuter Rail Station @ Central Square are also, like basically right here.

THE SKINNY

What: Vietnamese-inspired BBQ + Bent Water Beer
Where: Bent Water Brewery in Lynn—on the patio!! (weather permitting—we’ll move the party indoors if Mother Nature is angry that day) @ 180 Commercial St #18
When: Monday May 28 @ 5pm
Parking: on the far side of the brewery. The building itself is a little hard to notice if you haven’t been before, so check your GPS and whatnot before you head out!

Breakdown:

Check in at the door at 5pm. You will be given your table number so you know where to go when it’s time for supper.
Mingle Session 5-5:30 including snacks, live entertainment by local legend DJ 3Ways + our very own PHO MICHELADA!! ft.Bent Water’s Lynn Light beer, Chef’s Pho BrothViet-flared Sangrita w/ tomato preserves from local farmer Jade of JTs Herbs + Produce (AND Sommelier Lauren Friel’s MAGIC, of course).
– Dinner starts at 5:35. We will offer a [suggested] Beer Pairing for $20. The full Bent Water taproom menu will be available as well.

Your $65 ticket includes the Mingle Session + Michelada, 4 Courses of Vietnamese-inspired BBQ dishes, a surprise takeaway AND GRATUITY for the Nightshade staff.

Beer is separate and paid for onsite. (Treat it like a regular bar tab, please tip your bartender!)

This event is CASUAL. The brewery does not have a kitchen and we will be cooking outside so we can hang out with you. The menu will be released in the usual Nightshade fashion- 1 week before the event date.

As usual, for teasers and additional info be sure to check in with us @nightshadepopup

Same rules apply:
Please notify us of any real food allergies/restrictions at least 72 hours in advance (wink)
If you and your guests don’t purchase tickets together, please email info@nightshadens.com and let us know who you would like to sit with, so we can work it into the seating chart (wink)
Get loose, relax, try new things and let us take care of you (wink)

Sincerely,

The Nightshade Gals

This musical was written by Pasek & Paul in 2005 when they were 19-year-old undergraduates in musical theatre at the University of Michigan.

They decided to write their own show after being unhappy with the roles they were assigned in musical theatre productions at the school.

EDGES is a song-cycle about four burgeoning adults asking classic coming-of-age questions. This charming, witty and honest examination of adulthood explores what happens when we are teetering on the edges of our lives.

In 2006, Pasek & Paul won a $20,000 Jonathan Larson Award, becoming the youngest to have ever won the award, which was established by the estate of RENT composer Jonathan Larson to encourage composers, lyricists, and bookwriters at the beginning of their careers.

EDGES themes center around…
Teetering on the edges of our lives
Four burgeoning adults
Coming of age/”20 somethings”
Honest examination
Expectations vs. reality

Meet Christie Connolly, who runs OASIS – Open Art Studio and Inspirational Space, in downtown Lynn.

Christie Connolly is a Lynn native; she grew up in Lynn and as a single mother, brought her daughter up in Lynn as well. Soon after having her daughter she went to Bunker Hill Community College where she earned two Associates Degrees in Media Technology, and Computer Graphics, while waitressing and bartending at several local restaurants.

She then went on to start her own DJ/Karaoke business in 1992, She has continually worked all over New England hosting functions, weddings and almost any type of event you could imagine. She has worked in clubs, bars, restaurants and homes, she continues to host part time for the sheer love of it.

Christie is also an artist who has shown her work at several galleries in Lynn, Beverly, Cambridge as well as The State House in Boston.

Her works are mostly abstract in nature but she also does portraits as well as landscapes using various mediums such as watercolor and Ink and oil pastel.

In 2008 she decided to go back to school to earn her BA at Lesley University as a personal goal.

While attending Lesley she stumbled on to the Expressive Therapies program and decided to stay and earn her MA in Mental Health Counseling/Expressive Therapies.

She worked in the field at South Bay Mental Health in Lynn and NFI (National Family Institute) in Peabody before earning her License in Sept 2016.

She subsequently opened her own practice in August 2017 at Lynn Arts Building 25 Exchange Street in Lynn at OASIS, which stands for Open Art Studio and Inspirational Space. Oasis is an open art studio model, a space that is open to the pubic for art group workshops and open art studio times, private functions as well as private personal one to one counseling.

As an Art Therapist, she has worked with families, individuals and couples in therapy: with adults with dual diagnosis and trauma; seniors; children; special needs groups, among others. She has facilitated many therapeutic workshops using various therapeutic modalities such as Talk Therapy, Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Art Therapy, IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
