The Delvena Theatre Company will be presenting Truly Eleanor at the Lynn Public Library, 5 Common Street, Lynn, on Thursday, September 14, at 6:30 PM.
Here in this 3-person, live performance, Eleanor shares some of her most private and meaningful moments – her lonely childhood; her joyous courtship/marriage with her fifth cousin, Franklin; her devastation at Franklin’s love affair with her social secretary; her resolve to make him president after his polio diagnosis; her involvement in his presidency; and her eventual triumph at the United Nations. “Truly Eleanor” takes a candid look at our greatest First Lady’s courage and at her great contributions to human rights and liberty for all. The cast will open up for discussion of the subject matter after the performance.
This production will feature Lynne Moulton, Joseph Zamparelli and Fran Baron.
The Delvena Theatre Company has been doing to-go shows for the last several years at various venues throughout the New England area. The Company was founded in 1992, and prior to “going on the road” performed at different locations throughout Massachusetts, most often at the Boston Center for the Arts. Delvena was nominated for five Independent Reviewers of New England awards. Its production of ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’ was on Theatre Mirror’s Best List for acting, directing and production. Presentations of ‘Anna Weiss’ and ‘Beyond Therapy’ were included on Theatre Mirror’s best play list and ‘Blue Heart’ was placed on Aisle Say’s best list.
