An opening reception for Julie Kramer’s The Basement Archives: Vol I: The Ghosts of WFNX packed a gallery in downtown Lynn’s Prime Building Saturday night with former ‘FNX employees, friends and listeners.
The gallery, that they are calling “The Factory,” and Lynners know as the “Prime Building,” will be open for visitors will be open Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20 and 21, 1pm to 5pm. Address: 545 Washington Street
Any musician who was a guest at WFNX studios paid a visit to downtown Lynn, and Julie Kramer photographed many, including “…Elvis Costello, The Clash’s Joe Strummer, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Social Distortion’s Mike Ness, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Boomtown Rats’ Bob Geldolf, Bjork, and dozens more.” Though, there are also great photos taken elsewhere or with an indistinguishable background. But, Brian Ferry posing in downtown Lynn? Joe Strummer in front of LynnArts! Iggy Pop in Central Square! Yes!
Julie Kramer may be best known as the beloved on-air radio personality for WFNX’s “Leftover Lunch.” After WFNX she continued on-air at RadioBDC and is now on-air on Indie617. She earned her MFA in Photography from University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.
