(model fee will be paid directly to instructor and may be reduced per person if there are more than 5 students)
All levels are welcome at this weekly class focused on the portrait. The instructor will provide teaching and information regarding the structure of the head, features, and methods to increase accuracy of seeing and perceiving. We will work from life, with a variety of models. We will use simple drawing materials for the first few classes, with artists bringing their choice of medium for remainder of classes (drawing and/or painting materials). The instructor will provide demonstrations and individual attention in a warm and supportive environment.
Maximum of 10 students, minimum of 5 students.
About the instructor:
Ellen Grandpre is an award-winning artist living on the North Shore. She is a graduate of Mass College of Art with a degree in painting. She has taught beginning and intermediate painting at the North River Arts Society in Marshfield. She is currently continuing studies at the Academy of Realist Art in Boston. She has participated in juried exhibits and plein air events in Massachusetts. Her most recent one person show was held at the Marblehead Arts Association in August 2014. She recently won best of show awards at Marblehead Festival of the Arts 2015, in painting as well as paint the town exhibit, as well as PTT best of show 2016. She participated in the Annual Regional Juried Exhibit at the Guild of Boston Artists on Newbury St. in 2016. She runs the weekly portrait drop in sessions at Marblehead Arts Association.
