Pine Hill Neighbors Meet at Hibernian, Discuss Pickering Site Concerns

The lower hall of the Hibernian was packed Thursday night with Pine Hill residents for a meeting organized by Donald Castle and neighbors over possible locations for a new Pickering Middle School. Two of the proposed sites are Parkland Ave. and Gallagher Park. Many spoke in opposition of those locations September 14th, during a public hearing at the Marshall Middle School (video).

On October 4th, Ward 5 Councilor Dianna Chakoutis announced that both Parkland and Gallagher were less likely due to legal concerns. Details regarding those potential legal issues were revealed at the Hibernian meeting. It’s all in the video below.

Ward 5 Councilor Chakoutis and Ward 6 Councilor Capano were participants. Later, Councilor at Large Brian LaPierre would arrive and take part. There were no microphones, so sound isn’t great in quality, but it’s there.

On Friday, October 7th, 10am in Room 402 of City Hall, there will be an “Emergency Meeting” on the matter.
